ABSTRACT

Hong Kong has the strict control on the use and handling asbestos from 1980's and the Air Pollution Control Ordinance bans the import and sale of the more dangerous types of asbestos, from May 1996. It also provides for the control on activities that might lead to asbestos dust emissions.
The compensation of the pneumoconiosis (silicosis and asbestos included) scheme started from 1981. If worker diagnosis silicosis or asbestos, they could get the compensation certainly. Because of strict control and the compensation scheme, it is no reason to have under -report asbestos case. The follow is the number of new case both of silicosis and asbestos
