ABSTRACT

The paper introduces the process of experimentation and finding of substitutive material for asbestos and study of technology for manufacturing fibro cement roofing tile non-asbestos in the past 10 years in Vietnam. It was undertaken from using plant fibers which are available in Vietnam such as jute, coconut and bagasse fibers etc. using combined material of cement- polymer - inorganic - organic fibers to produce lighter components and to establishment of technological process for manufacturing PVA-cement roofing tile with optimal percentage of materials with wet-formed technology imported from Japan and China.
The paper, in conclusion, has brought some recommendations for production of PVA- cement roofing tile to substitute asbestos-cement roofing tile in future in Vietnam.
